The art of laser engraved etching
Peter Chater
Since early 2025, art technologist Peter Chater has been developing innovative new methods for making etching plates using a laser engraver. This process offers artists new, high-tech, methods for intaglio printmaking, without using grounds and acids. The resulting plates are then hand-printed on an etching press using the traditional methods.
This website both showcases examples of Peter’s work and shows artists how to use these exciting techniques.
